Humidity is part of the job here

Houston air holds a lot of water, and coatings care. If the slab sits too close to the dew point, moisture condenses on the surface and the next coat can blush or lose its bond. We read slab temperature, air temperature and dew point before every coat and write every reading in the install log. If the numbers aren’t right, we wait.

Wet air, wet ground, wet slabs

A slab on the Gulf Coast can carry more moisture than it looks like it does. That’s why we moisture-test every slab before we price it. If it reads wet, a moisture barrier goes on the bid as its own line, instead of showing up a year later as a floor that’s lifting.

What we coat here

Houston questions

Asked on the Gulf Coast.

More answers on the commercial and residential pages.

How do you deal with Houston humidity?

We don’t coat until the slab is at least 5°F above the dew point, and we log slab temperature, air temperature and dew point before every coat. On a muggy day that can mean waiting, or running the install at a better time of day.

Do you coat battery rooms and chemical storage?

Yes, with novolac epoxy (System 04). Send the list of chemicals the floor will see and we’ll match the system to it. Chemicals outside the system’s rated resistance aren’t covered by the warranty, so the list matters.

Which parts of Houston do you cover?

All of Greater Houston: the Ship Channel and Bayport, the US 290 and I-10 corridors, Sugar Land and Stafford, and north to Spring, The Woodlands and Conroe.
